Film was shot both on 65 mm. using the Todd-AO process for the first time, which is projected at 30 frames per second, and on 35 mm. using the CinemaScope process; the first version released was the Todd-AO version, which was released in 1955 by Magna Theatre Corp., but since only certain theatres could show that version, the 35 mm. CinemaScope version was released in 1956 by Twentieth Century-Fox per videodisc jacket (DAA 2695), Parish, J.R. and M.R. Pitts. The great Hollywood musical pictures, p. 477 and Green, S. Description
In the turn-of-the-century Oklahoma Territory on the brink of statehood, the story unfolds in peaceful Claremore. Laurey and Curley fuss and fight and will not admit that they love each other. Ado Annie cannot decide between Will, a handsome rodeo rider, and Ali Hakim, a smooth, citified travelling peddler. Curley and Jud Fry, the rough-edged hired hand, struggle over Laurey's affections. All will be settled at the Skidmore social.
