Ruby’s story picks up a few months after the events of The One and Only Bob. Now living in a wildlife sanctuary, Ruby’s caretaker from the elephant orphanage in Africa where she grew up is visiting. Seeing him again brings back a flood of memories - both happy and sad - of her life before the circus, and she recounts the time she spent in the African savannah to Ivan and Bob.

Gerald the elephant is certain that he cannot dance but his friend Piggie convinces him to try.

Piggie is invited to her first party. What will she wear? Her elephant friend Gerald, the party expert, know just how to help ...or does he?

"Piggie is determined to thank everyone she knows, but Gerald thinks she will forget someone important"--

Gerald is tired and cranky and wants to take a nap, but Piggie is not helping.

When Piggie plays her new trumpet for Gerald, the elephant decides he must be honest in his response.

When Gerald the Elephant is sad, Piggie is determined cheer him up, but finds after many tries that it only takes the simplest thing to change Gerald's mood.

"Piggie really likes slop. She likes it so much, she wants Gerald to try some! But can Gerald find the courage to do it? Or will the smell alone be too much to handle?"--

While Piggie is determined to fly, Elephant is skeptical, but when Piggie gets a little help from others, amazing things happen.
